Tyler:

Welcome to the Disneyville podcast, episode 45.

Jessica:

Where we discuss Disney parks, disney cruise and everything or all the magic in between. See, I already screwed it up.

Tyler:

You nailed it. No, that's perfect. Don't change a thing.

Jessica:

Thank you so much. Today's episode is one that I am like giddy about. Are you a little excited to talk about today's?

Tyler:

This is going to be fun. This is such a weird niche episode that either you get it or you don't but I think everyone will enjoy it, and I don't, but I think it's going to be. It's going to be fun anyway. So well, first of all, yes, go ahead and tell the backstory. Okay, you go ahead and tell the backstory. You have it pulled up.

Jessica:

Tyler has this favorite set of stairs in the polynesian. We've talked about it on this podcast. Yeah, it's the most random 1970s brown stairs that lead up there to like down to a bathroom and then back up to what um ohana ohana at the polynesian I just love those stairs and there's something about like you'll think about it weirdly at home, be like, yeah, I wish I were on those stairs right now, like so weird, right, but I love it a few episodes ago I mentioned.

Tyler:

I was like, if you ever happen to be there, take a picture and send it to me.

Jessica:

And you guys came through a few of you have already sent pictures and it's made me on the stairs so happy so madison proct I hope I'm saying your name right uh had posted about it on Instagram and tagged Disneyville podcast in it, and so we had reshared it to our story. And she responded in our DMs with one of the seven wonders of Walt Disney World, as in, the stairs are one of the seven wonders and so that got the wheels turning and we were like that would be such a fun episode to each have our own list of our seven niche wonders of Walt Disney World. Yeah, so we both wrote our own little descriptor of what we mean by that.

Tyler:

Right, do you want to read yours first? Okay, so here hopefully we're.

Jessica:

We're on the same page because we have not seen each other.

Tyler:

No, so here's what I wrote down as far as like what I mean by the seven wonders of the world.

Jessica:

Yeah, if you were wanting to play along.

Tyler:

So I'm thinking things like the backside of water. You know, yeah, if you were wanting to play along. So I'm thinking things like the backside of water. You know how, when you're on the Jungle Cruise and they say the eighth wonder of the world, the backside of water. Not funny things necessarily, but like kind of odd things that are not really like, it's not the castle, we're not talking about the castle, we're talking about weird things that are not really big wonders. I also said so. I said unsung heroes to no one but you and you alone, and you do not need to explain yourself to anyone, like the stairs, and the last description I had was places that live rent free in my mind.

Tyler:

So, as the kids say, so things that like just pop into my head that I don't need to explain this, but they're just things I think about all the time, weird little things that pop up in my head. That's kind of what I'm thinking. That was my description of my head.

Jessica:

Okay, mine was similar, but I loved the way you said it so much better. So I just said those things that you think about all of the time and that you just love, but most other people wouldn't notice or appreciate it.

Jessica:

Yeah, so I think, we really are on the same page. I cannot wait to hear what yours are. I am so curious if any of ours overlap, I want to know what your guys's are. So, if you're watching this on YouTube, cause we'll have B roll of the specific things we're talking about I think I have footage of most of the things I'm talking about, which is just fun. That shows how much we love these places, and we also did ask you guys on Instagram, so we're going to read we.

Tyler:

I haven't read any of those I haven't what you guys shared, as your seven hopefully explained it well yeah, I feel like we we filmed it on instagram and we we said it, but then I don't think we explained it well on that, so I guess we're gonna start reading those, but then, if you now understand it a little bit better, now that we explained it a little bit better, maybe you missed it. You want to re-comment on instagram or re-comment on youtube?

Jessica:

maybe no I by all means, I want to know. I want to know because these are the fun things that, like you've maybe noticed that we haven't and I want to look at or find on our next trip, like I just think that's so fun, okay.

Tyler:

All right. Oh, and, by the way, one last little thing here is all the things that we because I talked about what do? So I thought ancient Walt Disney. World, it could be fun to do another episode in the future of things like this that are no longer there, that were sad, that are gone.

Jessica:

But maybe ones that like, maybe there's a remnant still there and so you can see or you think about, like there are certain things I was obsessed with for a very long time and some of the things there's still like remnants of in the park, so that could be fun. So, anyway, yeah, that'll be a future episode.

Tyler:

All right, your episode all right, so you go ahead. What is your number seven?

Jessica:

oh, did you rank these a little bit? Yeah, oh, no.

Tyler:

Well, here I'll just go and get mine, because it's mine was the polynesian staircase, so that one we already talked about okay, mine are not ranked at all.

Jessica:

Okay, should I take a second to rank them?

Tyler:

these are not no, because they're they don't need to be ranked no okay, good, all right.

Jessica:

the mounted heads on the wall at country bear jamboree. I know I told you this example, so this is the only one you knew of mine. I think about these a lot. When we go into Country Bear Jamboree, the only thing I'm watching are those heads, and I think it's like a buffalo, a moose and maybe a deer or something like that, and they're animatronic.

Jessica:

I think most of you guys can picture it, but I think it's the idea that if all of the sounds were turned off in the show, except for those heads, you would hear them blink, blink, like yeah, like I just love that. I love, I love the idea of that. They feel so old school, animatronic Disney to me, I don't know, and I think it's just because they're kind of in the corner and they're not even the main part of the show. They're moving and interacting with the show the entire time. So if you've never taken a second midway through the show to just watch them fascinating, fascinating, they're literally the peanut gallery.

Tyler:

Oh, I cannot think.

Jessica:

What's like walter and uh oh yeah, and muppet and muppet. Vision 3d rip.

Tyler:

What's the? What are their names, though?

Jessica:

walter and oh, that's gonna drive me crazy. But yeah, walter and cronkite, they're always kind of walter and cronkite.

Tyler:

Yeah, they're always kind of moving around and like doing stuff. That makes me so happy because it makes it feel you know, alive yeah, but yeah, just the blinking and the, the moving and the. Yeah, it's the, it's the fact that you can hear that and they're just a little bit creepy.

Jessica:

They're just a little bit creepy. It's kind of like the effect of chucky cheese animatronics on you. When you were a kid you like could not look away, and I'm still weirdly obsessed with them. And, by the way, did you know that chucky cheese does not have those anymore for the most anywhere? Yeah well, no, I remember. Didn't we watch an?

Tyler:

interview with like yeah, I think they're completely gone.

Jessica:

I'm like bring them back. If they brought them back the parents of today, I grew up with them I would be flocking to chucky cheese I know oh my gosh anyway whatever they've got to be around.

Tyler:

So there's probably a warehouse oh, you know, there is I want to know all of them. You know what, if they, if, if chucky cheese did like so creepy a, a pop-up shop somewhere, with all of them like got them working again, they could sell tickets for $100 and 90s parents would go.

Jessica:

They have to provide the pizza though. Oh yeah obviously Gotta get that Chuck E Cheese pizza.

Tyler:

Oh anyway.

Jessica:

Okay, now I'm just hungry.

Tyler:

All right, so here's my next one.

Jessica:

Okay, so you're riding the monorail right, okay, eyes are closed, let's hear it.

Tyler:

We're riding the monorail, we're seeing the contemporary, we're pulling into the contemporary and the doors open. But we're not looking at the side the doors open. We're looking at the other side, where it's carpeted and there's about eight feet of space.

Jessica:

Uh-huh, where I want to walk so badly. Yeah, but there's no doors on that side.

Tyler:

No man's land, baby. But you can see out the window and there's like a little platform on that side. I want to go on that side on the monorail and they don't let you, you can't you can't go over they vacuum that carpet over there. Somebody's got to go over how they get over there be 50 years of dust over there if no one vacuumed that car. Well, there are some parts of that so that's my, that's that that's wow, I love it's.

Jessica:

So I think about that area.

Tyler:

I just want to sit there crisscross applesauce and just watch the monorails go by let the breeze of the monorail like hit you in the face, just hang out just watch the world go by for a little while watch.

Jessica:

Watch the Disney world go by. I love that. That is so weird. I married you for a reason. I love the way you think my next one Atlantic Dance Hall.

Tyler:

Oh, that's a goodie.

Jessica:

I can't believe this place exists. A, b we had never really set foot in it until last year. And C it literally feels like a fever dream to me from the 90s.

Tyler:

Yeah.

Jessica:

It feels like. I mean, it is reminiscent of the old downtown Disney, like the Pleasure Island vibe and Atlantic Dance Hall has been around. I think for a while we had done a short or like a TikTok whatever on Instagram. So what is it Real All about that? This place and walking into it and footage of it, and it looks like it was frozen in a time machine from 1994. The like you got to look. If you're not watching this on YouTube, you got to pop over to our YouTube, watch the B-roll that we're showing right now. It really is frozen in time in 1994. And it is so amazing and when we walked in there was no one in there. It was wide open, no cover, like it's free to walk in and they had like a giant screen playing like spice girls music videos. I'm like, oh my gosh, like it really feels like.

Tyler:

Let me paint a picture. So like in the movie, big tom hanks is pretending to be an adult and the woman who works at the toy company who's the actual adult leaning against a bar? That's the bar that's the bar that's the bar she's leaning against. That is the Atlantic Dance Hall it's incredible, and it's two floors.

Jessica:

It could be, it could be a set for a movie.

Jessica:

No changes should be no changes but you know what's crazy is I? It feels like it was almost abandoned. I'm like there's no way this lasts much longer. I got a lot of well, we got a lot of dms on our disneyville instagram that said actually on weekend nights, later in the night it gets packed. I'm like that is shocking to me, but I love it so much so that makes me happy because that means maybe it won't close down. So if you have never stepped foot in this place, even if you have kids with you, trade off, just go in. We ended up just using the restroom. There's like an upper deck balcony that overlooks um, what's that lake called there on the boardwalk? This is on the boardwalk, by the way. I don't think I said that.

Tyler:

I want to say hourglass Lake. No what is it?

Jessica:

I almost did too. I know crescent lake, crescent lake, yeah, wait, that doesn't sound right, is that? Well, either way, whatever it is, it's overlooking the waterway. It is so beautiful. So, yeah, just walk in, go explore, go to the bathroom and then leave. But it was amazing, it's amazing.

Tyler:

We should have ordered like a 1990s drink there.

Jessica:

What was that?

Tyler:

cosmopolitan appletinis. What were big in the 90s?

Jessica:

well, according to carrie broadshaw, yeah um, cosmopolitan for for sure.

Tyler:

There you go, all right. So this one, here we go. We're going over to Epcot now.

Jessica:

Oh, okay.

Tyler:

We're in Morocco, okay, okay, we are going back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left, into the Fez house is what they call it, which is where they have all the beautiful mosaic tiles, right.

Jessica:

Is there like a fountain?

Tyler:

in there there's a little fountain in the back. Okay, it's a gorgeous room, right? Love being in there just sitting in there, it's gorgeous, right? Yeah, but I'm specifically talking about the fact that there is an upper decker. Up there there's a second level that's built to scale, you know, so it makes it look like it's even bigger, that you can't get to.

Jessica:

Oh, that was going to be my next question.

Tyler:

It just makes it look like it's a second. I want to go up on that second area, on the second level.

Jessica:

Yours are turning into forbidden areas that you can't walk on. That Tyler wants to walk on.

Tyler:

Those are these areas, but that's the area I think about, like I want to go up there and I want to look down on the people.

Jessica:

That's so far All of yours have been things you can walk on, though, like stairs, the area I'm very curious to hear you next, where I love this so much.

Tyler:

That's a great one.

Jessica:

I don't think I ever noticed that there was a second area. I'll have to look.

Tyler:

Just the room itself is beautiful and I just go in there, relax, sit, watch the waterfall, watch people go by. But I want to go upstairs. So badly and I love that little area up there, can't go up there.

Jessica:

Man, I'm so sorry.

Tyler:

What are you going to do, Forbidden, Someday? I'm just just going to go up there and just just with such confidence, it'd be worth it to be kicked out for life. So, so confident, and then nobody will. Nobody will know. It's like you know you go to a restaurant and you just walk a certain direction, just assuming that's where the bathroom is, Even if you don't know where the bathroom is you just, and you just walk with such confidence, and then I always ask yeah.

Jessica:

I always start walking with confidence, and then I my confidence wanes and I just say eventually, eventually, a waiter looks at you like you're entering the kitchen right now, dummy no, he's gotta walk such confidence it's like a bed bug. Um okay, my next one is a two. Two for one okay but they're in the same. It's in the same ride. So you're in magic Kingdom, you head left to go to Adventureland. You stop for a spring roll, of course.

Tyler:

Only one.

Jessica:

No, we each will get our own set of two. Great, I will not be sharing. Then we continue on. That just made my mouth water. To Pirates of the Caribbean. Okay, you enter, you ride the ride. On the ride, there's a scene where there's a pirate above you. You're going under a bridge. You know exactly what this is and for years, we love looking up at the pirate as you're going under the bridge and he has one foot dangling, and that foot is dangling above you and it is dirty. It looks like a real foot, of course, and we just love it. Every time we go under it, we're both like look, there it is. And so now, of course, our kids are like, oh, stinky pirate feet, and they love that part too, but it's such a specific part of the ride that we have always loved can I give you another one in that ride?

Tyler:

okay, if you go around, because there's the two sides where you can uh on the queue, where you can go. If you go around to the far side and you're like towards the front, you know where the, it's kind of hard to explain, but there's like if you, if you're on the far side and you end up being on the front of the boats, there's like that like half circle window, open window where you can see the ship way off in the distance. That's one of my favorites. I think about that little because it's then like the ship way off in the distance, that then you ride and you go see the ship, but you can't see it unless you happen to be on that side.

Tyler:

I mean, you might be able to see it from there yeah, I wonder we'll have to test that and then it just kind of like bobs in the water back there very slowly, like a little bit of light. Oh my gosh, that's one of my favorites, well, so my two for one.

Jessica:

that is a fantastic one. Now I'm excited to ride that when we go. We learned in, I'm sure, some documentary whatever about Disney that the way they created the fire effect in Pirates of the Caribbean towards the end is simply like a sheet with a fan on it, blowing, and then like orange and red and yellow lights on it, so it looks like flames licking around, you know, but that is an old trick that they came up with, you know what I mean. Like it's been around since. I think they might've been the one.

Jessica:

Yeah, yeah, that's what it was, so they brought it in anyway, but they've kept it that way, and when they've created new ones like that's what they've used, even in Disney world and I, every time we pass that I love looking, cause you can absolutely see it but it's wild to think that, you know, know it works so well, though, like you know, it's not real fire, but it, the effect is perfect yeah that's all.

Jessica:

I love getting that part, so it's another one that I'm always like glinty. I'm like, yes, I love this part. No, looking at the sheets blowing so good this is so fun all right.

Tyler:

Next up I've got in again an epcot in the japan pavilion okay as you're exiting, like, the gift shop, right before they have the big horses there. It's between the little where the horses are and where you exit the gift shop, you can see where the castle kind of comes down and goes into the little moat. That's all I love that. I love that you can see where the castle comes down and touches, actually goes into the water and touches the ground.

Jessica:

Yeah, that you've pointed out to me before, and there are a couple other places in Disney that you've pointed out the similar things. And what is it about that?

Tyler:

It makes it seem so real versus like a show building. There's something, because it comes down at an angle. It makes it feel like an actual, distinct building, like it was not just a concrete monstrosity that they dressed up. It makes it seem like it was. It was you know, not just a you know a concrete monstrosity that they dressed up.

Jessica:

It makes it seem like it it was like an actual castle they built with stones and it's going into the water just the way they built it just yeah, because I've been trying to figure out why we've always like once you pointed that to me, I'm like, yeah, that is cool. What is it about that? That?

Tyler:

maybe that's what it is yeah, gosh, that's a silly one, but it's true I love it.

Jessica:

It's true. Okay. This one is bordering on if we did an ancient wonders of disney world video. Okay, but we've been in it in recent years and it still exists, so I'm counting it for this one, okay and I just won't use it.

Tyler:

I don't think I almost had this one on my list, if it's the one I'm thinking of okay, the wonders of life pavilion and I almost had this one on my list, okay I had to double check.

Jessica:

I never remember which pavilion was which because we didn't go back in the 80s when all this was like at the height. So it's the gold dome. That's between, like guardians and test track and all that on the other side, like right now I know it's not open and I don't think. I think it's been a couple years, but they had opened it for different festivals, kind of randomly and intermittently, and there would be some like festival gear for sale.

Jessica:

Now I think they're more often using the Odyssey building and they've just got other options, but for a while that's what they were using for a couple of years there and being able to walk into and this is one I like think about a weird amount being able to walk into this old 1980s building that they haven't used and they're just like kind of using in a weird way, not fully using the space, because it's a very big pavilion, it's huge, it's so cool, it's like getting to walk into an abandoned Disney.

Jessica:

I mean, you are, that's literally what you're doing, but you're allowed to, right, you're allowed to. And when you, I I mean nothing's changed. I mean they've taken down signs for things and obviously in the rides, but I mean it looks exactly as it did, like the floor seems original, like everything about it feels like a 1980s mall I'd say it feels like a mall yeah I just love that and they, yeah, they, they honestly, when they were using it as a festival pavilion, did a good job with it, because they used it as, like I said, gift shops.

Tyler:

But then they also used there was a little theater in the middle. Then they used it as demonstrations.

Jessica:

They had like a chocolate area off to the side like they use it in a in a really nice way yeah I kind of wish they would do something with it it's still sitting there, which makes you wonder, like, do they have plans in the future? They tear down a lot of stuff. Right, they also leave a lot of stuff, but they tear down a lot like why has this one stayed?

Tyler:

so I wonder, and I wonder if maybe they use it for private events that we are not privy to. Maybe they use it for storage corporates what will that? Or like corporate events that come in, like you can rent it out, like if you have a giant company and you, you know, rent it out. Like you rent out epcot for the evening. You can, I don't know.

Jessica:

They've got so many other areas that do that too, though, so I don't know, yeah, when you kind of wonder too with they were wanting to do that, those big play pavilions, and then they kind of scaled that back like a lot. Now it's whatever. But I feel like that's a pavilion that if they've kept it this long it's probably an okay condition and it has got to be cheaper to use something like that and turn it into something then. And obviously I'm sure some of the ride and show areas are very specific, so that would be hard, like they'd have to kind of start from scratch. But I don't know.

Tyler:

Yeah.

Jessica:

I'll be curious what happens in the next few years.

Tyler:

Yeah, me too, yeah, okay, this is one of my favorites. So this is, uh, this is one that I don't think a lot of people are going to know, know, they're gonna know okay so there's a little resort in walt disney world known as saratoga springs, and at saratoga springs there's a little restaurant known as the turf club bar and grill. And the thing about the turf club bar and grill is still under the impression that it's 1987.

Jessica:

It's incredible, you guys.

Tyler:

Time moved on and no one told the Turf Club Bar and Grill. It's incredible. It is a step back in time where you had the VHS tapes and you got to watch businessmen in their polo shirts golfing in Disney World. This is it.

Jessica:

This is the restaurant they were definitely at. This is the restaurant.

Tyler:

They were eating their 64 ounce tomahawk steaks, drinking scotch in Disney World, having an Arnold Palmer. This is the restaurant it was happening in and it has not changed since they feel it's actually grainy in the restaurant you walk in and you're like whoa vhs tape it is incredible there's great fuzz around the corner it's amazing.

Jessica:

You can see the lines as it goes so wavy it's incredible it really is, you guys, and you know what the food was. Not bad like I remember we were like I'm just wrong with it and the cast members were great, but it was so cool to be there and be like it almost doesn't exist, Like I'm not convinced. I'm not convinced it actually exists. It's kind of like the thing. I'm like this was a fever dream, yeah.

Tyler:

It's not over there.

Jessica:

Yeah, you could just go get a cup, I don't know. Okay, One of our favorite areas is this next one You're in Magic Kingdom. You're across from the Haunted Mansion at Columbia Harbor House. Upstairs there's a ton of seating which I feel like not a lot of people know. Tons, tons of seating, really nice restrooms that no one's ever in too.

Jessica:

There's this like almost bridge over towards the haunted mansion area, although it doesn't to the mansion anyway and you can like. There's seating area up there to eat your food and there's windows on both sides so you can kind of people watch over this bridge of people walking under it towards the haunted mansion area etc. And then towards the tangled rest Mansion area, et cetera, and then towards the Tangled Restrooms on the other side. It is so cool and I love specifically I love eating up there. We've had great memories just eating up there with the kids but being downstairs and walking from the Tangled Restrooms under it and looking up and seeing the windows and knowing there's people up there right now eating and probably looking down at us. Like I love those windows from down below they did not need to do that.

Tyler:

Yeah, a little bridge over there, but for some reason just that little, it's just architectural. You know, it just makes it intriguing for the people sitting up there, makes it more interesting. It just did not need to be done yeah but it makes it so much more interesting and I just love that.

Jessica:

I love sitting up there and I love it from below as well they've done a couple things like that that were so well thought out and so random, like pinocchio village house having the overlook into small world where you could eat up there, or like even same same restaurant but the little bits of chairs upstairs that you can sit out and it wasn't like.

Tyler:

It was like oh, this is going to add a ton of seating, so it makes so much more.

Jessica:

It's like six, seven tables yeah, it just makes it much more interesting and it makes so much more sense.

Tyler:

It's like six tables, seven tables.

Jessica:

Yeah, it just makes it much more interesting and it makes it and you know what the theming there of course is like new England and honestly what we've experienced in new England when we've gone and gone to restaurants there and visit my brother, a lot of the older restaurants are kind of compartmentalized. It doesn't feel the way a lot of modern restaurants feel today and so I feel like that and it being kind of in a colonial type building that makes sense to have like smaller pockets yeah, so cute.

Tyler:

So much new england clam chowder. I've had so many clam chowders.

Jessica:

All right, we've got two more right I feel like I have three, but maybe I hold on one. Okay, I accidentally have an extra okay, that's fine.

Tyler:

So this is a fast one here. So we have the bridge this is a kind of a new one the bridge between where you leave magic Kingdom and go to the right between Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian. I love. If you look at a map from above, you can see that that waterway. If you look down, there is the electrical water pageant. You can see it from the bridge. And that waterway actually connects to the Rivers of america and so that is cool, that that whole waterway connects. Now that's all about to go away here soon, rip, but it's cool as of right now to see that waterway will still exist.

Jessica:

It just won't connect right that waterway can find a way.

Tyler:

I guess we'll see but yeah, that waterway connects to that, which is just cool, like that's all the same water and that just makes me Well, and also seeing the uh, those like floats from the electrical water pageant up close.

Jessica:

That's just cool.

Tyler:

It's like being backstage at a Broadway show. Yeah decades.

Jessica:

If you didn't see our Keys to the Kingdom tour episode, you should check that out. We talk about that, Okay. Well, one of my extra ones I'll go ahead and piggyback then is actually connected walkway to that, the walkway between the, specifically the Polynesian and the grand Floridian. There's we've done that walkway a lot, We'll, you know resort hop and then be like, okay, instead of the monorail, let's walk to the grand Floridian or whatever, and 50% of the time we've done it, it's like rainstormed on us randomly. Other times it's just been so hot. You know that's.

Tyler:

Disney or under construction.

Jessica:

Or it's under construction. We can't finish the walk. But for the longest time and I don't think it's this way anymore they had these personalized stones that people could buy decades ago. Right, and didn't your mom?

Tyler:

have one. Yeah, my mom had one. I think her parents bought her one.

Jessica:

Yeah.

Tyler:

And yeah, so we finally found it.

Jessica:

It took us years and uh, we, I don't think they're there anymore.

Tyler:

Some of them are, some of them aren't, but we had, we had a picture of us. We finally found it. We took pictures of it.

Jessica:

Yeah, but that was on that walkway, so it's just one of those walkways that it's a very pleasant walk. It's kind of a weird view of some of these resorts. You see a little bit of backstage now of course it's near the tower too, so it'd be a little different feeling feeling. But I, I don't know, and I love walking upon. Coming upon grand floridian from that angle is kind of cool too, because you go by the newer buildings that's not really that new anymore but the newer dvc area of grand floridian, and then onward but I'll be curious, because the last time we were there, the, even though the tower, I think, was open, the walkway wasn't, so we couldn't.

Tyler:

So I don't know if maybe parts of it are parts of it are still that old and maybe parts are not.

Jessica:

I don't know. I guess we'll see. We haven't been able to do it. You'd think they'd like offer the stones back to the people if they weren't. You know what I mean.

Tyler:

Like wouldn't it be cool to own it, if That'd? Be awfully hard to track everybody down, but yeah, that's pretty cool and I'm sure it was probably in the contract like in the future. All right, this is my last one here and I just wrote simply the top of spaceship earth.

Jessica:

What's going on up there?

Tyler:

Like from the inside, yeah, you get to the top of spaceship, earth and they've got the earth, but what else is going on up there? There's all just, there's just stuff everywhere and it's like there's all these, like it's they're all covered in black fabric and like what's going on up there?

Jessica:

You wonder if it's like anybody else know what I'm talking about. It is not like the black shadows, yeah Of like angular mountains of?

Tyler:

is it storage of like?

Jessica:

is it covered in black velvet for them to be able to like go up and yeah?

Tyler:

repair the. I'm sure I could probably find a video of it, like with the lights on, but it just it doesn't look like there's no clean lines up there, but when you get to the top I don't know.

Jessica:

They're just I I did learn was that in this ride I did learn that there was a different theming originally for spaceship earth and it involved I'm pretty sure it was in this scene. There was um, like an astronaut like floating and they're reaching towards something, and that might be what that is and it's covered up and so when the lights are on, you can see parts of it. I'm pretty sure it was spaceship earth and I'm pretty sure it was that part, and if I find that video, I will find it and send it to you.

Jessica:

You will lose your freaking mind, cause there might be an answer to that.

Tyler:

But if you look up there now why?

Jessica:

didn't they take that down?

Tyler:

If you look up there now, it just looks like in my head because you can't really see you. Just, you know you go up and then there's, there's the earth and it's projected on the top. But then if you look all around elsewhere, it literally like you're in the attic and they took a giant black velvet curtain and just threw it over all the crap that was left there, I think that's exactly what and I'm looking.

Tyler:

It's like was this on purpose? Is it like they're just like they had boxes piled everywhere and like, just put a tarp over it, it's fine?

Jessica:

I like that you specifically said black velvet that is exactly what I pictured.

Tyler:

They gotta be heavy yeah, that's, and I'm like is this supposed to be like the mountains of space?

Jessica:

in space though. Cause we're looking at the earth anyway, oh, that's a great one.

Jessica:

I've got two more, and neither of them are anywhere near as great as that. Okay, gertie the dinosaur oh yeah, she's just an OG. I almost didn't include her cause I'm like I feel like it's almost kind of obvious and some people do appreciate her. But the thing I realized I really like about Gertie the dinosaur lately is that at night her eyes glow and that haunts my dreams. I don't think I realized that until recently. Why it's amazing. That's it, why not? It's amazingly weird. I feel like Gertie's closed 50% of the time anyway and I just love that her eyes glow, that's all. Yeah, it's such a weird addition to that area and also, I mean I guess it makes sense that it'd be in Hollywood Studios because there's like kind of a California crazy.

Jessica:

Yeah, but still.

Tyler:

And it was the early cartoon as well. Yeah, the connection my favorite part is that if you look behind her, you can see the footsteps going behind her. And then where?

Jessica:

she lands yeah. That's my favorite, okay, okay. And then, lastly this was my last quick addition You've written Journey to the Imagination, journey to Imagination with Figment, of course, and at the end, you know, there's the whole fun little weird pavilion and again that feels kind of frozen in time where you can interact with all these different things and run around.

Tyler:

But there's that rainbow tunnel right yeah.

Jessica:

So a couple things about this. A lot of you guys may know the history of like in was it captain eo? Like part of the video of that was like michael jackson like dancing through or coming through that tunnel, that very exact tunnel. So that's just kind of like a wild history, like wow, that's the actual one. For a while I think you would go through it and you could get to like another lounge, like a dc lounge or some kind of private lounge.

Jessica:

Now, first of all, I just always looked at it like this is crazy, like it's right there and it's like this kind of piece of weird old Epcot history. And it's right there, you can just see it, cause, again, oftentimes they cover everything with heavy black velvet tarps anyway. But the fact that now characters enter and exit from that way, so when you're meeting, let's say, joy, there you, she comes in and out that way, or figment, they're coming in and out, like well, what can I go with you, hold your hand and skip through and see what's on the other side, like so, anyway, that's all. Every time we're in there I'm always so excited to lay eyes on that weird tunnel yeah that disney tunnel of history yeah, that's a good one.

Tyler:

All right, I love it. I love it. All right, let's see what we got here yeah, what did you guys send in?

Jessica:

so our instagram, as we always say, is Disneyville Podcast. If you want to ever participate in the show, the way we're about to share now, this is how you do it.

Tyler:

Okay, Arlena, two solid ones here. Arlena, who's an agent at PeopleMover Travel, said the back of the UK pavilion, the gardens back there where they have the benches and stuff. Such a good one, but this one, this is solid. Tom Sawyer Island rocking chairs.

Jessica:

That is yes Also. This is this is solid tom sawyer island rocking chairs that is yes also. What a spectacular view of literally all of frontier land in the haunted mansion area. You're just sitting on the rocking chairs and just people watching from afar oh, that's a great one.

Tyler:

You have to get over there.

Jessica:

That's that's that that that's a goodie. Oh, I love this one. Okay, fighting for a cure said sitting inside wilderness lodge next to the little bridge with the water going outside. That's a great one. Oh, I just love the Wilderness Lodge. It's been a while since we've stayed there, but that little area, you're right, and again so random, like they didn't have to do that.

Tyler:

Yeah, but it's just like that cool weird thing that you're like I love that, the little bridge and the fact that it goes outside that makes it so much cooler. Okay, christine furtenbacher said the half blinking hippo on.

Jessica:

it's a small world. Yes, that's a perfect example. So good, they just. I know disney parks just posted a short a few weeks ago about that and it was just funny. You can go back and see what I'm talking about. Berea m4 said any hallway at Art of Animation cars area the theming, the smells and the music gets me. There is something so special and we've talked about this a lot about specifically the value resorts, the All Stars, pop Century, art of Animation. It's technically value but it's always a little more expensive. But anyway, there's something so special about that and we're going to be staying pretty soon at one of the values for our next trip and we're so excited because every time we do it's like the true essence of a Disney trip to me. Yeah, like I love trying all the we've tried them all at this point all the resorts, and I love so many of them. But there is that there's something so magical about those, so I totally get that.

Jessica:

Oohny hooten said the warm seat at the back of disney transportation oh yes, it's so warm and a little rumbly, it knocks me out.

Tyler:

I will fall asleep so fast back there and then coral roses on the transportation said any boat transportation just feels extra magical for some reason. There is something about it, I think, because, like especially in indiana, we don't ride boats a lot, so there's something special about riding a boat that you just don't get at home very often.

Jessica:

Yeah, peyton, tim said the outdoor eating patio area of Pecos Bill between Frontierland and Adventureland. Yeah, and there's not many seats outside right, so it feels like a score if you actually get a table there. No one really knows about it. And again, the eating and people watching. There's nothing better.

Tyler:

There's the eating and people watching. There's nothing better. If you can do it during a parade too, sometimes you get a good view of the parade yeah, the top half, but the floats are so tall, you know oh, you're gonna love this one.

Jessica:

Christina ginger said outside area contemporary by the sundry shop you can see the castle and monorail pull in yeah, yeah, that's a good one anywhere at the contemporary. There's so many dark corners of the contemporary that I just love because, again, it really is old.

Tyler:

Well, and there's a few areas, like on the outside, where you can go like and step outside and see the Magic Kingdom and then, obviously, at the top, you can go outside and step up there too, oh so good, oh yes.

Jessica:

Oh my gosh, tyler, I'm so mad at us for not thinking of this. This is one of our older ones we haven't really talked about, okay, morgan line. Weaver said the bench way back by the old pay phones in the alleyway on the right of main street, that little alcove we always call it yeah, that's a good and there's always like a couple tables and chairs and it's like a cast member entrance and exit as well. But anyone.

Tyler:

You can just go there, it's so quiet.

Jessica:

No one's ever back there yeah like we've had a meltdown. We just kind of go in that little area like it's quite amazing, it's quiet, no one's back there you hear the dance studio and stuff going on.

Tyler:

Isabella salito said the hallway walking into steakhouse 71. The photos on the wall I could look at forever. There's that, that little area down there it's just so cool they're so, so good. And then the mill road bungalow said the beach at fort wilderness. We were the only ones there, I. There was a couple things at fort wilderness I almost added on my list because like there's so many pockets of fort wilderness that I just love oh, I love fort wilderness.

Jessica:

I remember like we had traded off doing like jogs or something there and when we were staying there years ago and when you run, especially in the early morning, we jogged like back to the water area, we catch the boat and all that and hoopty, do review and they no one was out there but there was all of the music playing, like the old timey you know oh yeah what country?

Jessica:

western music, whatever you call it, and it was just such a vibe. It's such a vibe and I've done that is burned in my brain. I love it. Okay, kelsey in suitor said the mosaics of the riviera and in fact lot, a lot of you guys have read like maybe five so far, just scrolling have mentioned the mosaics of the Riviera. They're so beautiful and I feel like if you don't know they're there, you don't know they're there.

Tyler:

They're gorgeous, though, and they've got the fountains there too. Yeah, absolutely gorgeous.

Jessica:

Truly one of the most beautiful things on Disney property.

Tyler:

Lizzie Maurer said the picnic tables behind ye old christmas shop in magic kingdom, if you know, you know always quiet and empty. Yes, there's that spot there, yeah, and it's kind of shady. They have the character meet and greet on the one side and then the yield christmas shop on the other side. That area is just gorgeous. 100 again.

Jessica:

Great for meltdowns.

Tyler:

That sounds funny but like, really, that's obviously what's on our minds. And then scar, scar, squalls. I definitely said that. Wrong said the balcony outside of the Enchanted Rose. We love those Grand Floridian balconies.

Jessica:

Oh yeah, there's the one there for the.

Tyler:

Enchanted Rose, and then the one next.

Jessica:

Again, it's always related to like people watching where they don't know. That sounds so creepy. I don't mean it in a creepy way, it's not even just that.

Tyler:

It's just like where can you get a quiet pocket, quiet pocket, quiet pocket of Disney World? That's what we're always looking for.

Jessica:

You feel like it's a little untouched.

Tyler:

It's a little yeah area, just for you.

Jessica:

Okay, love this. Miranda Cadis said sort of kidding. But the random massage chairs in the Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary Sorry, I missed the first part, the Grand Canyon Concourse.

Tyler:

What was the first?

Jessica:

part, the random massage chairs that Like. Whose idea was that I?

Tyler:

can't even picture that when are they?

Jessica:

I mean, listen, they're in the Grand Canyon. What was it I'm trying to picture exactly. I remember we seen them For some reason. I pictured those in the like a convention center area, so maybe I'm not thinking of, or maybe there's more than one set, which makes me laugh even harder. Also, the random coffee shop on the lowest level of contemporary like, not the main level that's like level two or three whatever, but the main one and it's like kind of small and again I feel like not a lot of people know about it, but if you were staying there, get a coffee there and then walk to the uh magic kingdom.

Tyler:

Yeah, down by where the bus stop is, yeah, yeah, darth ashley he's got a couple here said this is maybe only a little niche. Pretty much every themed trash can obsessed. I have a photo collection of each trash can. I want every trash can. The rides and characters of my dreams are waiting and I'm standing there taking a bin pick. Hold on, got to get a bin pick.

Jessica:

It's a new bin. Um, that is incredible. I'm going to start paying attention. I've definitely noticed some cool ones, but I don't pay attention enough. So now, now yeah also our good friend just sent us an instagram reel all about hidden speakers in disney world and instead of finding hidden mickeys, what's what's in? I mean he's joking, but is finding all the hidden ways that disney hides speakers yeah and have you probably.

Jessica:

I don't think you've watched it, you just sent, just send it. It's pretty cool. I mean a lot of them. Some of them are obvious, but it's just kind of cool, like where you Disney hide speakers absolutely everywhere. That's, that's fun. It could be another new obsession for you Bin picks and speaker.

Tyler:

Oh, this is a good one. So Nibre, Nibre 521 said by the tree of life, there's little coves. Love a good coffee break there. There are so many little areas around the tree of life. And again shady Just anywhere around there. There's so many good areas.

Jessica:

And there's like random pockets of animals. Like you walk through and you're like, oh, there's flamingos here. Like I didn't what Otters, oh, okay, oh, look at that.

Tyler:

Ooh, brycey21, look at that. Oh, bryce c21, the lockers inside epcot on the way to nemo. They are like a time machine back to the 90s. I know exactly which ones are talking about when I think if it's the one I'm thinking of and I'm pretty sure it is when you first walk into epcot by the epcot ball on the right hand side, oh yeah, those back there. I think that's what they're talking about and I'm pretty sure they've never been touched that is incredible that's if they're the ones I'm thinking of.

Jessica:

They've never been touched oh, like since then, since they've been.

Tyler:

Yeah, I got you I got you okay.

Jessica:

This is actually a really good one. Julia. Julia schultz sorry, I love your name. I'm sure I'm mispronouncing if it's beautiful to read um. The aquarium after the seas, with nemo and friends, my all time favorite area of Disney world. I feel like that is such an underrated spot. We could spend hours there with the kids in the aquarium and seeing all the things, but no one ever really talks about it. When you're like, oh, I'm planning a trip, what should I see? No one's like. You got to go to the aquarium, but it is indoors, it's AC, it's mesmerizing. They have little scavenger books for the kids, it's cool for the grownups and it's way bigger than you think.

Tyler:

If they were to put new carpet and a coat of paint, it would be.

Jessica:

I don't feel like it looks that old it just needs a little freshening Now.

Tyler:

that said, I don't mind it because I kind of have the nostalgia, but I can see if you don't have that nostalgia.

Jessica:

But I don't think that would make the difference between it's a little dingy, I think it's just so dark because you know the nature of it.

Tyler:

I think it could use a refresh.

Jessica:

Okay, Well, either way. I do you know what, though? I do think it would be served well to have like a little quick service in there. It would get a lot more food traffic because you're off the kids, you've got kids, you just rode Nemo or like a little cart Like although, again, if it's carpeted or maybe they just don't want that, but it's just a thought, like it's kind of interesting, you know, if you think about the land, it's got sunshine seasons.

Jessica:

Yeah, I feel like a lot of the bigger pavilions have something, but this one just doesn't. It's got coral reef there, but you know? Okay, sierra Lawson 025 said Gaston's Tavern area with the Beauty and the Beast music playing in the background. Okay, do you get? Yes, 1,000%. That Beauty and the Beast area that they added is kind of funny because there's not a lot to do there. If you think about it, there's really just Gaston's Tavern, that tiny little gift shop that they keep changing up, and then I think there's some restrooms there and the awesome fountain.

Tyler:

There's not a lot to do there, but that whole area is such a cool vibe I love it and the music like that is the kind of music I want to be listening to.

Jessica:

When I'm listening to, like background Disney world music just to get excited, that is exactly what I want to be listening to.

Tyler:

It's such a pretty area too.

Jessica:

It's just beautiful. It was so well done. So, yeah, I totally agree.

Tyler:

There's a couple of really good ones here, okay. So, christina, I'm sorry, krista. Germany said Skyliner at night. It's such a vibe, 100%. Nancy Barr said the ventriloquist dummy on Tower of Terror, yes, and then the Koi Pond in the Japan Pavilion. That area is so gorgeous if you just walk up there.

Jessica:

Yeah, and so many people skip over that.

Tyler:

You don't even notice, it's all if you're not going up there, absolutely. And then let's see, there I had a couple more. So elisa, or elisa nye said, the imagination pavilion bathrooms, if you know, you know. And then this one is this is fantastic, the yo-yo stairs at pop. I don't know why, but love it that.

Jessica:

So the stair case that has the yo-yos on it the yo-yo stairs.

Tyler:

That's what this game is all about. That's what that's. That's why we do a great one to end.

Jessica:

That's why we do yeah, that's a great one.

Jessica:

It's so, and so many of these are so personal that's it but, like you described it perfectly at the beginning, you don't have to explain it to anyone, like who cares? That's why, like you know, people will meet that aren't disney people. I'm like that's cool man, like we all like what we like, but you know they'll really press like why? Why do you love it? I'm like I don't have to explain this to you. People like what they like, man. I'm like I just like I don't know, honestly. Anyway, oh, that's great.

Tyler:

That was so much fun. This was one of my favorite. Just such an enjoyable episode to chat about, and I'm so curious to read your comments on youtube too. So if you, if you listen to this or if you watch it on youtube, please comment yours down below, because I'm so excited to read more.

Jessica:

I want to keep this going. Maybe there'll be a part two.

Tyler:

I don't know we had so many comments. This is so fun to read through these, oh yeah, great, um, so we are.

Jessica:

While you're watching this, we will either currently be in disney world for week or we may have just returned, kind of depending on I'm trying to think of when this episode's going live, which means that very soon, vlogs from that week long trip will be going live. Like I said, we're staying at one of the value resorts. We are just so excited we're wanting to go to the water park, one of the water parks, one of the days we haven't done a water park in so long. I'm I'm excited we had. The vlogs from the treasure by this point are probably wrapped up, so if you haven't checked, those out.

Tyler:

They're. All of these are on yep, my channel, which is tyler braun, or you can look tyler travels tv.

Jessica:

You can find it either way.

Tyler:

Either way, yep but yeah, so the treasure ones there should be all up. If you were kind of some people like to wait until they're all up, but those should all be done and then we'll have Walt Disney World's coming up. So lots of those coming up. And then I'm also working on from last summer our Disney cruise ones also be coming up here soon.

Jessica:

So yeah, that was like a big, different kind of Disney cruise.

Tyler:

Yeah, so we've got all kinds of stuff coming up, so it should be fun. Yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this. Did we want to do a review?

Jessica:

All right, we're reaching back because there were so many reviews that came in within the past year that when a flood of them would come in we'd pick one to read. But there are so many we haven't gotten to read yet, so I don't think we've read this review. This one is from Schmidlove and it says captivating Disney duo. As a longtime fan of this charming well couple, I can assure you this podcast will not disappoint. Disneyville hosts Tyler and Jessica bring you along as they delightfully showcase their passion and enthusiasm for all things Disney, creating a fun and engaging environment for all listeners, from the super knowledgeable Diz nerds to the people just looking for an entertaining podcast to throw on.

Jessica:

I'm personally closer to the latter end of that spectrum, but every episode reignites the love I had for the Disney I grew up with and gets me one step closer to planning my own trip. I had for the Disney I grew up with and gets me one step closer to planning my own trip. The only criticism I have is that I need more. Trust me, we wish we could give you more. Someday we will be given the gift of just more time perhaps, yes, but the we are. This is as good as we can get. But we love doing it Like we look forward to the days we're filming. So I'm glad you guys are enjoying it too.

Tyler:

We were just talking about that before. Like, we look forward to the days we're filming, so I'm glad you guys are enjoying it too. We were just talking about that before and we always look forward to filming.

Jessica:

Oh my gosh, yeah, best days Awesome.

Tyler:

All right, well, I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. We'll be back in two weeks with another one. Yep, that's it. We'll see you guys next time.

Jessica:

See you on the other.
